Horizontal Balers – EXCEL

EXCEL Horizontal Balers

Excel EX & HV Series Horizontal Balers — Built for Heavy-Duty Recycling Operations

Horizontal Baler - EXCEL

Excel Baler Manufacturing

Excel Baler Manufacturing has built a reputation as a leading name in horizontal recycling balers, offering three distinct product lines built for different stages of baling intensity. The EX Series is built as a single-ram, closed-door baler focused on durability and consistent productivity, the HV Series uses an interlocking construction to bring two-ram-level capability into a single-ram footprint, and the 2R Series adds an advanced automated control system for higher-volume, hands-off operation.

Excel balers are engineered and manufactured in the U.S., based in the Upper Midwest, which supports consistent build quality and dependable parts availability. Whether you’re processing cardboard, mixed paper, plastics, or other recyclable materials at volume, Excel’s horizontal baler lineup is built for continuous operation with minimal downtime.

Horizontal Balers

  • EX Series

    EX Series

The EX Series was the first “full penetration closed door baler” on the market over 30 years ago, and remains one of the most durable, efficient single-ram balers in the industry. It handles paper, cardboard, newspaper, aluminum and tin cans, PET, HDPE, textiles, and foam, producing mill-ready bales without preconditioning. Automated features like bale sizing and shear jam correction reduce labor costs by up to 75% compared to a vertical baler.

    • Motor: 20 HP, three-phase
    • Platen Force: 159,000 lbs
    • Target Bale Size: 60″L x 48″W x 30″H
    • Best For: Paper, cardboard, plastics, cans — general recycling operations with limited floor space

The heavier-duty EX66/EX77 variants add reinforced framing and Hardox shear blades for tougher materials like heavy post-industrial plastics, slab waste paper, and light non-ferrous scrap metal.

  • HV Series

The HV Series brings the single-sheet, interlocking construction of Excel’s two-ram balers into a single-ram footprint, delivering two-ram-level capability without the two-ram price tag. It’s built for extreme-duty use — baling painted aluminum siding, radiators, aluminum extrusion, and insulated wire — in addition to standard paper, OCC, PET, HDPE, and cans.

    • Motor: 50 HP, three-phase
    • Platen Force: 159,400 lbs
    • Target Bale Size: 60″L x 48″W x 30″H
    • Best For: Scrap yards, recycling centers, and nonferrous metal processors needing two-ram durability in a smaller machine
